Accomplishments
ICAN has many accomplishments in advancing the rights of immigrants in Idaho and across the country:
- 2003: Hosted the Immigrant Workers Freedom Ride in Caldwell and Rupert
- 2003: Mounted a photo exhibit on Idaho´s immigrants, "Shared History, Shared Hopes: A Photo Exhibit Documenting the Contributions, Struggles and Dreams of Idaho´s Immigrant Communities"
- 2002: Farm Bill, which restored many immigrants´ eligibility for the Food Stamp Program across the U.S.
- 2002: Farm Labor Contractor Bonding legislation
- 2001: Farmworker Minimum Wage legislation in 2001
In 2004, ICAN supports the following initiatives:
- Lifting barriers to education and legal status for many of Idaho´s immigrant youth, as proposed in the DREAM Act/Student Adjustment Act
- Making legal status available to immigrant members of our communities - the AgJOBs bill sponsored by Senator Larry Craig is a first step in this direction
- Ensuring access to driver´s licenses for immigrants
