ICAN staff recently attended two civic engagement conferences in Portland, OR and Phoenix, AZ. These conferences helped ICAN solidify relationships with regional partners as well as develop key skills for staff to plan out our 2012 civic engagement voter program. Learning outcomes include how to develop strategic, practical voter goals that are both achievable and make a significant difference in our communities. We learned how to incorporate media into our civic engagement campaigns with particular emphasis on ethnic media and social media.
The conferences also place a high value in developing coalitions to achieve voter engagement goals with scale and increase our funding capacity. ICAN staff looks forward to developing a robust workplan that incorporates suggestions from the convening. We encourage our members to also become involved in the planning phase this fall.
If you are interested in our voter program, contact the ICAN office and speak with Renato.
